About Radon, Mold & Infrared
Radon is a radioactive gas that has been found in homes all over the U.S. It comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water and gets into the air you breathe. Radon in the air increases the risk of getting lung cancer. The EPA recommends if you are planning on buying or selling a home, to have it tested for radon. We use electronic continuous radon monitoring (CRM) equipment for faster and more reliable results.
Molds are fungi that are present in indoor and outdoor air. Mold spores are spread easily through the air and produce mold growth when certain conditions, nutrients, and moisture are present. Molds can affect the health of people who are exposed to it. We can provide visual mold assessment and sampling to help determine if a potential problem exists.
ABOUT INFRARED THERMAL SCANNING
An Infrared Thermal camera is a tool used to find thermal signatures of things like air leaks, missing insulation, hidden moisture penetration, over heated wires, radiant heating pipes, etc. It can help inspectors locate problems that may not be visible to the naked eye. Our scan during a home inspection is at no additional cost.
The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) is the oldest and most respected professional organization of home inspectors in North America. Certified Members of ASHI have demonstrated their proficiency by performing a minimum number of inspections to ASHI standards, have passed a series of written exams testing their knowledge of residential construction, and must earn continuing education credits to remain a member. Membership in ASHI is an earned credential, and the best evidence of an inspector's competence and professionalism.
